Abstract

The potential visual impact is one of the main barriers that the wide adoption of Wind Parks should face. Very often the problem can be solved by taking into account certain methods and techniques. Although there is rich technical information, the aesthetical one seems to be not too rich. In this study are reviewed the critical elements of the potential negative visual and aesthetic impact from the wind energy systems in order to integrate their characteristics in the design and the rational siting of the wind parks. Besides are presented and compared the most common methods (such as Quechee analysis, the Spanish method, the method of visual limits) in order to estimate the extent of the visual impact of each wind system minimizing, in that way, not only the negative attitude of the local/regional populations, but also the potential negative implications in the local ecological system.
