Abstract

The application background of the low-reaction aspirated compressor is introduced in this paper firstly, and then a three-stage highly-loaded aspirated compressor is designed out preliminarily based on the two kinds of low-reaction concepts. 3-D numerical simulation shows that, the multistage aspirated compressor could achieve a total pressure ratio of 6 at a tip speed of 370 m/s with the through-flow efficiency beyond 86%, which further verifies the feasibility of application of low-reaction in the design of the highly-loaded compressor. By analyzing the 1-D total parameters, S2 parameters distribution, 3-D flow details and considering the complexity of aspirated structures, the initiatory design is evaluated, which could provide the basis for the further optimization effort.
