Abstract
The advanced ultra-high temperature materials (UHTMs) with some unique comprehensive properties can be used in extreme environments, such as the supersonic flight for a long time, reentry flight and crossover flight of aerosphere, and rocket propulsion. The present status of research and application of ultra-high temperature materials such as refractory metals, ceramic matrix composites and carbon carbon composites were summarized. The existing problems were analyzed, and the research tendency in the future was put forward.
