N2 - In this paper, after a brief introduction on the proposed plug-and-play (PnP) process monitoring and control system, two online configuration approaches are proposed for the observer-based residual generator. Firstly, an adaptive residual generator is developed based on the adaptive observer scheme. Aiming at higher feasibility and reliability of industrial application, an iterative learning approach is later developed. The well established three-tank benchmark system is utilized for the demonstration of the effectiveness of the proposed approaches.
