Adaptive adjusting algorithm for the contrast of the X-ray images

Research output: Contribution to journalArticlepeer-review

Abstract

Applying the fuzzy mathematics and adaptive theory and basing on the anatomical knowledge of hand, a scan adaptive adjusting algorithm for the gray scale of hand bones in the X-ray image is proposed to uniform the gray level of bones. It has the ability to make clear the relation between the membership grade and gray value of muscle and bone. By the fuzzy analysis of the distribution on the gray scale of bones, it can make the relation between the gray value and bone more clearly than that in the original image. This method has some commonality and stability. As a concomitant result, the common threshold method for image segmentation can be used to get a meaningful segment of hand bone, which expands the using scope of common threshold segmentation algorithm.
