Abstract
Electrorheological fluids were selected as the active vibration control of smart composite structures. The experimental studies were focused on evaluating the elastodynamic response characteristics of the beams featuring electrorheological fluids. The results show that the ability to significantly change the vibration characteristics of the beams fabricated in smart composites by changing electric field imposed on fluid domain. The shear modulus of ER fluid can be controlled with the application of an electric field to the ER material.
