Abstract

The vehicle vibration affects its ride comfort and handling stability. Because the passive suspension has its limitations, many new-type suspensions have emerged as the times require. Active Suspension is one of them. The vehicle active suspension based on giant magnetostrictive actuator (GMA) can finish active control of vibration relying on its energy system by actuator, so a good active vibration isolation system can be obtained. In this paper, the procedure for the design of GMA was presented. A laboratory model was made, and related experimental research has been carried out. This technology's feasibility was expounded and proved in principle.
