Active suspension switching control from anti-lock braking assistance to ride comfort improvement

Abstract

In this paper, a novel active suspension system(ASS) controller for assisting anti-lock braking system(ABS) is proposed, and accordingly, an ingenious switching strategy for ASS switching control from assisting ABS to improve ride comfort is designed. Besides, a relay ABS controller and a simple backstepping ASS controller to improve ride comfort are presented. The simulation results shows that the designed ASS controller for assisting ABS can indeed shorten the braking distance, and the switching control strategy can effectively restore the ride comfort and road adhesion performance once the ASS controller is switched to improve ride comfort.
