N2 - This paper proposes a novel large current rectifier using star-connected autotransformer and active harmonic elimination method. The proposed large current rectifier is a combination of autotransformer and two three-phase half-wave rectifiers. Due to the usage of autotransformer, the proposed rectifier has higher power density than the rectifiers using the isolated transformer to be the phase-shift transformer, and the rectifier has higher energy conversion efficiency when the phase-shift transformer feeds two three-phase half-wave rectifiers. In order to eliminate the harmonics in the input line currents of the proposed rectifiers, an active inter-phase reactor (IPR) is used. Theoretical analysis and experimental results show that the kVA rating of the autotransformer is about 105% of load power, which goes down 25% compared with that of the double-star rectifier; the proposed rectifier using active IPR has high power density, energy conversion efficiency, and good performance of harmonic elimination.
