Abstract
Lithium plating in lithium-ion batteries usually leads to loss of battery capacity or even triggers an internal short circuit, and the hazardous level of lithium plating can be reduced by changing the charging strategy, but the presence of lithium plating needs to be detected accurately and timely. In this study, a non-contact, non-invasive lithium plating detection method based on a measurable magnetic field on the surface of lithium-ion batteries is proposed. By continuously scanning the magnetic field on the surface of lithium-ion batteries, the relative magnetic field distribution is obtained through data processing, and the relative magnetic field distribution is judged to determine whether the relative magnetic field characteristics of lithium plating exist. Through simulation, it is verified that the method can detect the existence of lithium plating in lithium-ion batteries during normal battery operation.
