A Space-Vector-Modulation Scheme to Reduce Leakage Current in Soft-Switching Three-Phase Transformerless Inverters

Abstract

When the soft-switching three-phase inverter is applied in transformerless photovoltaic (PV) systems, its common-mode (CM) leakage current has to be suppressed to satisfy grid codes. However, conventional zero-voltage-switching space-vector-modulation (ZVS-SVM) adopted for the inverter produces high common-mode voltage during its operation. In this article, a modified ZVS-SVM scheme is proposed to reduce the CM voltage (CMV) generated by the inverter. Circuit working principles under the proposed scheme are illustrated. Besides, CM behavior and performance of the proposed method are compared with the traditional method. Finally, the effectiveness of the proposed method is verified by simulation and experiments.
