Abstract
Improvisational behavior enables new product development teams to acquire innovative capabilities and improve operation efficiency to deal with turbulent environments. In order to analyze the change of team improvisation, a system dynamic model was built to explore the intricate relationship between team improvisation and its influencing factors. The simulation results indicate team stress, teamwork quality and team stability have a positive impact on team improvisation. By increasing team performance, team improvisation can relieve stress and promote teamwork quality and stability. The fluctuation of performance goals and environmental turbulence can indirectly decrease the level of improvisation. As noted the reduction of the leader capabilities does not have a big indirect impact on improvisation; only a higher level of organizational context support and a moderate level of team expertise can exert a great indirect positive influence on improvisation.
