Abstract

To address the issue of precise sidelobe level control in phased arrays during wide-angle scanning, a two-dimensional (2D) complex coefficient weight vector orthogonal decomposition algorithm is presented for 2D planar arrays in this paper. The algorithm originally proposed for linear array is modified and extended to 2D planar antenna arrays. Its performance in suppressing wide-angle scanning sidelobe levels was validated across various array configurations, including 2D square arrays, star shaped arrays, etc. Numerical results suggest that the presented algorithm performs well in sidelobe suppression for 2D planar phased arrays while wide-angle scanning.
