Abstract
This paper proposes a short-circuit fault diagnosis method based on average current errors for the permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) fed by the current source inverter (CSI). The method is simple and easy to implement, which only requires the feedback motor currents and does not need additional sensors or detection circuits. The algorithm requires calculating the average current error between the average values of the reference current and the feedback current in one cycle, and the ratio of the error to the average absolute value of the reference current is used as the diagnostic variable. Then, two current thresholds are set to achieve accurate location of single switch or double switch short-circuit fault. Finally, an experimental platform is built to verify the effectiveness and the robustness of the proposed diagnosis algorithm.
