Abstract
A novel low-cost dual-polarized slot antenna is proposed for C-band phased array radar systems: a compact stacked slot patch configuration fed with a pair of T-probes excites dual-polarization in orthogonal directions. A prototype antenna is fabricated, and the antenna yields return loss better than −10 dB from 4.95 to 5.05 GHz, along with higher than 3.3 dBi peak gain. Full-wave simulations and measurements show promising features in terms of reduced cross-polarization (<−23.2 dB), high isolation between the input ports (<−20 dB), wide scanning capability (>32◦) and fair regular radiation patterns.
