Abstract

A novel wideband grid array antenna with seven elements is presented in this work. The radiation elements are vertically placed above the substrate in order to broaden the impedance bandwidth. The prototype of proposed antennas is then fabricated and tested. The impedance bandwidth of the designed grid array antenna with seven elements is 36.4% in a range of 1.95 to 2.82GHz, which shows great improvement compared to the traditional grid array antenna. The measured 3-dB gain-drop bandwidth is 17.3% and it covers a frequency range from 2.1 to 2.5GHz.
