Abstract
In a meshed multiterminal high voltage direct current (HVDC) system or a DC grid, it is difficult to control the power flow of a particular line by controlling the converter station. Therefore, it is necessary to use DC power flow controllers to improve the distribution of power flow. Firstly, the four types of existing DC power flow controllers are introduced and their advantages and disadvantages are analyzed. Then, a novel interline DC power flow controller is proposed. The new topology has the following advantages: fewer switching devices and drivers are required, the new topology has a simpler structure, and the control is simpler. Finally, a three-terminal HVDC system is built in PLECS, and the feasibility of the new topology is validated.
