Abstract

Location information is the foundation of wireless sensor network applications. However, with the influence of noise and random distribution of nodes, the flip ambiguities probably cannot be avoided. Flip ambiguities may cause great error, which also can propagate to partial or entire network during the process of localization. In this paper, we analyze the principle of flip ambiguities by considering ranging error. Based on the analysis, we present a detection algorithm, which can solve the flip ambiguity problem in various situations. According to theoretical analysis and simulation results, our algorithm can effectively detect flip ambiguities and the reliability of wireless sensor network localization is significantly enhanced.
