Abstract

Aiming to reduce the volume and weight further, a novel coupled inductor is proposed in this paper. The implementation approaches and the operation principles are analyzed in detail along with the comparison analysis with three-leg coupled inductor. Two prototypes of two-phase 1kW interleaved Boost converters are built to verify the theoretical analysis using the proposed or traditional three-leg coupled inductors respectively. In prototype, the volume and weight are reduced to about 40% of the traditional three-leg coupled inductor with the proposed coupled inductor.
