Abstract

The shunt active power filter has been proved to be a useful approach to eliminate current harmonics caused by nonlinear loads. This paper proposes a novel control scheme compensating current harmonics selectively. PI current controllers using stationary-frame generalized integrators are adopted, which can realize zero steady-state error of current tracking. Moreover, a new method to calculate the grid reference current is presented. The phase of the reference is obtained by updating Fourier analysis of the grid voltage, while its magnitude is determined from the viewpoint of energy-balance. Experimental results from a prototype verify the feasibility of the proposed scheme.
