Abstract

A novel and efficient parameter estimate technique for the LFM signal is given. This method is founded on the two definitions - one sided Wigner transform and Quadratic Phase transform, and the corresponding parameters could be evaluated. This method needs a one-dimensional (1-D) maximization and fast Fourier transformation. The asymptotic statistical feature of this approach is investigated, and the theoretical expressions of the mean square error (MSE) for the parameters are obtained. Then the approach is extended for the quadratic frequency modulated (QFM) and cubic frequency modulated (CFM) signal simultaneously. The experimental results show the effectiveness of the novel method.
