Abstract

This paper proposes a novel construction of sensing matrix (dictionary) to improve the suppression performance of sparse recovery space-time adaptive processing (SR-STAP). As the sea clutter and ground clutter measured from a moving platform have sparsity characteristic, the SR-STAP is widely used on clutter suppressing for moving platform, and the sensing matrix is significant for the accuracy of the clutter recovery. In this paper, according to the prior knowledge of radar system parameters and the space-time distribution of clutter ridge, an adaptive overcomplete dictionary with non-uniformly distributed elements is designed. And the resolution of the clutter region on the Angle-Doppler domain is greatly improved. Compared with the uniformly distributed dictionary, the proposed method effectively enhances the utilization ratio of the elements in sensing matrix and reduces false peaks. The experimental results indicate that the proposed method can achieve a better estimation of the clutter spectrum.
