Abstract

A new technology called impactive rotating is put forward to control weld distortion, the integrated device of impactive rotating has also been designed. Driven special columned pressure pole with a electric hammer, impactive force with rotating action is exerted to the metal of the welding bead and the toe of weld. The metal stretch and generate tensile plastic strain to counteract the residual compression plastic strain, generated in the welding process, and finally the welding distortion has been reduced. The result of experiment applied the equipment for the high strength aluminum alloy indicted that this technology can decrease the weld distortion as well as refine grain and enhance strength of joint weld metal.
