Abstract

Because the SPIHT algorithm used too much memory and its encoding speed was slow on the DSP hardware system, an improved SPIHT algorithm was put forward. It adapted better to the feature of DSP, and it improved efficiency and speed. So, the run time was shortened and the requirement of real time compress was realized. To solve the problem of the SPIHT being sensitive to single bit error, the paper depicted an efficacious method for anti-code-error. Practical application proved that the algorithm resolved the problem of the small memory of DSP and improved the encoding speed. In addition, the anti -code-error ability was improved, It is an algorithm adapted well to DSP.
