N2 - A music data model, its query language and its application are proposed in this paper. Firstly, a music data model and its algebraic operations are given, which can be used to describe and manipulate musical data efficiently. Secondly, a structured query language on the model is proposed, which can be used to define and manage musical data. Finally, a digital music library, one of the applications of this model, is presented, which can be used to retrieve musical information, especially against musical instruments.
