Abstract

The characteristics of the transient and polarization have significant effect on a short-pulse laser transfer in scattering media. In this paper, a Monte Carlo (MC) method is developed to simulate transient polarized radiative transfer in a 1D scattering medium. The directions of the beams scattering are determined by a rejection method. The transient vector radiative transfer matrix (TVRTM) is defined to describe the transient polarization behavior of short-pulse laser propagating in the scattering medium. Temporal and angular distributions of Stokes vector are obtained based on TVRTM. A time shift and superposition principle is applied to the MC model, and the computational efficiency and accuracy are improved significantly.
