Abstract

In this paper, a motion-correction algorithm for maneuvering targets (acceleration or turning) whose spectra of the HF radar echoes are significant spread is addressed. Such spreading which degrades the detection performance and parameters estimation of targets originates from the high-order time terms of the echoes' phase. The least-squares method has been used to estimate these terms to correct the Doppler spectra for restoring the targets' peaks. Simulation and experimental data results show that such technique is helpful to achieve the better targets' spectra and the higher probability of detection.
