Abstract
This communication presents a D-band dual-polarized antenna array that achieves wideband operation and high-gain performance. A two-layer orthomode transducer (OMT) is introduced to excite the orthogonal TE10 and TE01 modes of a 1 × 2 waveguide antenna subarray. Two 1-to-4 hollow waveguide feeding networks are integrated with four OMTs to feed the dual-polarized 1 × 8 array. To further enhance the gain, a common-aperture pyramidal horn is incorporated into the array design. Measured results demonstrate that the proposed 1 × 8 dual-polarized antenna array achieves a dual-pol impedance bandwidth of 28.4% (124 GHz to 165 GHz), with peak gains up to 25.7 dBi and 23.9 dBi for vertical and horizontal polarization, respectively. Moreover, the array exhibits a high port isolation of over 40 dB and a cross-polarization discrimination greater than 25 dB across the operating band. These superior performance metrics make the proposed design a highly competitive solution for high-power D-band wireless communications.
