Abstract

A Raman study was carried out on the phase transition and decomposition of perovskite-type cubic phase Eu(1-x) K(x)TiO3 (x = 0.20, 0.26, 0.32, 0.38 and 0.44), which were synthesized under high pressure and high temperature. Upon sintering, the metastable cubic phase transforms to the tetragonal phase. In the decomposition process, K2Ti6O13 was identified as one of the decomposition products in all samples, and no potassium titanates in other forms have been observed. In the further decomposition of K2Ti6O13, either rutile or anatase could he obtained, depending on the heating process. Copyright (C) 2000 John Wiley and Sons, Ltd.
