Abstract

In this paper, the typical Ti-44Al-8Nb-0.1B alloy is studied, and a method for obtaining fine (α2+γ) lamellar structure in a short time at low temperature is found. First, the alloy is water quenching (WQ) after holding at 1300 °C for 30 min to obtain a supersaturated α2 phase. Then the alloy is WQ at 800 °C with or without stress for different holding time. Finally, it is found that under the condition of 800 °C with stress, the (α2+γ) lamellar structure of the alloy will accelerate the growth, and a lamellar structure is formed in a very short time, and the grains is refined. In addition, the reasons for the accelerated growth and refinement of the lamellar structure are also studied.
