Abstract

In current research on connected vehicles utilizing bus lanes, Existing control models face several challenges, such as inefficient lane usage and difficulty in managing the balance between buses and social vehicles operating within the lanes. This paper proposes a new control model - TDDBL (Traffic Density Dynamic Bus Lane) aimed at optimizing the reuse of bus lanes to address traffic management challenges in the context of connected vehicles. We use cellular automata to build a simulation environment. The results show that, compared to existing research on "intermittent bus-only lanes,"TDDBL can improve road capacity by 2 to 3 times. Additionally, TDDBL performs well in alleviating road congestion, comparing to existing research, it can reduce the road vehicle congestion ratio by approximately 5%. In conclusion, the proposed TDDBL is a new bus lane reuse model suitable for urban road segments with high bus frequencies, offering promising practical application prospects.
