Abstract

As for the weakness of large volume electrolytic capacitors, small volume film capacitor is applied to replace the electrolytic capacitor, which could improve the drive system reliability and the power density. The system stability and grid current harmonics are important issues in the single-phase reduced DC-link capacitance motor drive system. In this paper, a novel active damping control method based on DC-link voltage estimation is proposed to enhance the drive system stability and improve the grid current performance. Compared with the conventional active damping control method, the proposed active damping control method is more suitable for the drive system with small grid inductance. Experimental results are performed to verify the effectiveness of the proposed method.
