Abstract
Underwater wireless power transfer (UWPT) technology provides a feasible approach to solve the range bottleneck problem of the underwater unmanned vehicle (UUV), but the continuous disturbance of ocean currents has caused great additional difficulties of power supply. This article proposes a novel ODO type UWPT magnetic coupler that can achieve 360 degree and ±100mm rotational and axial antimisalignment ability of UUVs in the UWPT docking station, respectively. This ODO magnetic structure has strong conformal advantages, sufficiently lightweight, good electromagnetic compatibility, and does not change the hydrodynamics characteristics of the original docking station and UUVs. It is worth mentioning that the ODO type magnetic coupler has good universal design principles. Through the expansion design of the receiver, the system power capacity can be easily increased, and potential for the application of cluster UUV UWPT systems.
