Abstract
Given the rapid development and critical role of communication systems in modern economic advancement, the necessity for accurate assessment, prediction, and management of their seismic risks has become increasingly urgent. To address this, this paper presents a comprehensive review of recent research on the seismic resilience of communication systems from an earthquake engineering perspective. It first introduces the basic network architecture of communication systems and clarifies the connotation of seismic resilience, which together provide the conceptual foundation for subsequent analysis. The review then examines post-earthquake functionality assessment methods for communication components and systems, with emphasis on functionality quantification and infrastructure interdependencies. On this basis, it further discusses post-earthquake recovery modeling and assessment methods, followed by a synthesis of overall seismic resilience evaluation approaches. Finally, the review summarizes engineering and managerial strategies for resilience enhancement, identifies major research gaps in the existing literature, and outlines future directions for building more resilient communication infrastructure.
