A burst-mode Nd:YVO4/Nd:YAG MOPA laser with high- repetiton-rate and high-pulse-energy

Abstract

We demonstrated a high-energy burst-mode Nd:YVO4/Nd:YAG MOPA laser. A LD pumped Nd:YVO4 acousto-optically Q-switched laser works as oscillator and three side pumped Nd:YAG modules as the amplifiers. During the burst duration of 1ms, maximum pulse burst energy of 730 mJ at 10 kHz is obtained with single pulse energy of 73 mJ and a pulse width of 9.3 ns.
