Abstract

A high-power single-longitudinal-mode Ho:YAG laser operating at 2090.8 nm was demonstrated by using a dual-crystal, double-pass MOPA architecture. 6.2 W single-longitudinal-mode laser was extracted from the amplifier at the pump power of 22 W combined with around 23 mW injected seed laser, corresponding to an optical-to-optical efficiency of 28.2 % and a slope efficiency of 36.2 % for the double-pass Ho:YAG MOPA laser system. The maximum small-signal gain of 26.2 dB was obtained with around 10 mW input seed laser. The beam quality factor was measured as M2 ~ 1.27.
