Abstract

Ultrasonic assisted laser welding with filler wire test of 5A06 aluminum alloy was carried out by ultrasonic transducer and fiber laser. The welding characteristics of 5A06 aluminum alloy laser welding with filler wire and ultrasonic assisted laser welding with filler wire were compared and analyzed. The experimental results showed that the use of ultrasonic assisted laser welding with filler wire can achieve good weld formation, the fluidity and uniformity of the molten pool is stronger, and the weld width on the back of the weld is significantly increased. The joint's tensile strength exceeded 293.1 MPa after ultrasonic application, and the elongation reached 13%, touching 93% and 86.7% of the base metal, respectively. The area of the columnar crystal near the fusion line of the weld greatly vanished. Ultrasonic wave application increased the nucleation sites in the molten pool, reducing the work of nucleation. The columnar crystals have been converted into small equiaxed crystals and the range of equiaxed crystal sizes in the center of the weld is reduced to 66-79 μm from 97-117 μm.
