Abstract
Based on the large deformation finite element theory, three-dimensional finite element simulation model of ultraprecision machining process was established. Utilizing general commercial software, the simulation of chip formation process was realized successfully, and the chip formation process of orthogonal cutting and oblique cutting were analyzed in detail. The results indicated that the cutting force, cutting temperature, equivalent strain and equivalent stress in orthogonal cutting process are less than that of oblique cutting process.
