Abstract

Electromagnetic relay may be interfered by voltage dips and short interruptions generated by the contact bounce in the control circuit when the relay operates. In this paper, a 3-D finite element method is adopted to simulate dynamic characteristics of the electromagnetic relay interfered by voltage dips and short interruptions. The variations of dynamic characteristics of relay with the different dip grades are obtained. Further research quantitatively gives the relationship between the time when the voltage dips happen and the duration during which the relay can endure the voltage dips. The method in this paper is useful for analyzing the dynamic characteristics of the relay interfered by voltage dips and short interruptions, and it is of great value in the design of electromagnetic relay.
