Abstract
The brilliant aurora observed in northern China on December 1, 2023 was a concomitant phenomenon of a strong geomagnetic storm. We combined real-time data from in-situ measurements of spacecraft and numerical simulation results to sort out and analyze the triggering mechanism and evolution of this geomagnetic storm event. Then we conducted a preliminary assessment of the impact of this geomagnetic storm, and finally gave a brief introduction to Chinese new scientific mission “Solar wind - Magnetosphere - Ionosphere Link Explorer”.
