Abstract
The high-concentration ammonia nitrogen wastewater has a complex composition and its quality changes greatly. In this paper, the application, advantages, and disadvantages of different physicochemical methods, traditional and new biological methods, and the combination of physicochemical and biological treatment methods in the treatment of high concentration ammonia nitrogen wastewater were introduced. In order to maximize the removal of ammonia nitrogen in wastewater, decrease the secondary pollution, and reduce the investment and operation cost, a variety of technologies were combined to treat wastewater with high ammonia nitrogen content, which can achieve complementary advantages. For the wastewater with higher effluent requirements, it was generally necessary to carry out pretreatment first, and then use physicochemical methods, biological methods, or physicochemical and biological combination methods for treatment.
