Abstract
Two different treatment processing including hot compressive, pre-recovery, solid solution, aging and hot compressive, solid solution, aging were contrastively analyzed to investigate the influence of pre-recovery treatment on the microstructure and properties in different directions of 7085 aluminum alloy. The results indicate that the pre-recovery treatment not only improves the equiaxed grain size, inhibit recrystallization, and preserve the dislocation density of the alloy but also refine the grain size (the average grain size decreases from 18.02 μm to 10.65 μm in the Y direction) and increases the proportion of low angle grain boundaries in this alloy. Pre-recovery treatment significantly increases the exfoliation corrosion and intergranular corrosion resistance, and the corrosion depth is only 19.65 μm in Y direction. In addition, pre-recovery treatment significantly improves the yiled strength and ultimated strength of the alloy, but decreases the plasticity. The corrosion resistance and mechanical properties of the alloy are anisotropic.
