Abstract
A innovation concrete-filled steel tube cooling tower with excellent construction performance was proposed and its collapse resistance was studied.Firstly,the geometric design formula of concrete-filled steel tube cooling tower was studied.Then, the collapse cause and the collapse shape of the cooling tower under different notch center angles (the notch center angle corresponding to the deleted columns) were studied by FEM,and the collapse-resistance of the concrete-filled steel tube and the reinforced concrete cooling tower were compared in terms of the difficulty of collapse,the affected zone and size of kinetic energy.The results show that the collapse of concrete-filled steel tube cooling tower is mainly caused by local instability.Overall collapse of the cooling tower occurs only when the notch central angle exceeds 126°.The collapse-resistance performance of the concrete-filled steel tube cooling tower is better than that of the reinforced concrete cooling tower,compared to the reinforced concrete cooling tower,the notch center angle of the concrete-filled steel tube cooling tower begins to collapse is larger,the peak kinetic energy during collapse is about 1/10 of the reinforced concrete cooling tower,and the affected zone caused by collapse are smaller.
