Abstract
Gap exists in multiple floating bodies. The water in the gap may resonant at a certain frequency of incident waves. When the resonance occurs, wave elevations in the gap rise significantly and the wave forces on the structure sharply increase. In the present study, the characteristics of gap resonance were simulated by a two-dimensional viscous incompressible numerical channel. The influence of the degrees of freedom on the gap resonance is emphatically investigated. The results show that the vertical degree of freedom of the floating body has a great influence on the gap resonance, while the horizontal degree of freedom has little influence on it.
