Abstract
By adopting the crossed arrangement of chord cables, the wheel-spoke crossed cable structural system can effectively improve its overall torsional resistance, enhance the stability of construction and the safety in use, and at the same time increase the aesthetics of the cable structural system and enrich the structural form. Based on the geometric morphology analysis, it is found that the key morphological parameters of wheel-spoke crossed cable structure include the number of cable truss units, crossed angle, the radius of inner and outer rings, springing height and sagging depth, and furthermore the parametric modeling method was established. According to the nodal equilibrium equations, the formula for fast estimation on the internal forces of cables and struts in the wheel-spoke crossed cable structure under prestressed state was derived. The effects of the crossed angle, the thickness of inner or outer rings and the height difference between the geometric centers of the inner and outer rings on the distribution of prestress were investigated. The results showed that the crossed angle has a great effect on the structural mechanical efficiency, the thickness of inner or outer rings has a small effect on the cable force, but it has a great effect on the axial pressure of inner ring struts. Moreover, the height difference between the geometric centers of the inner and outer rings has a great effect on the internal forces of cables and struts. This study shall be beneficial to promoting the further application of wheel-spoke crossed cable structures.
