Abstract
Knowing three-dimensional information of the defects will be conducive to nondestructive evaluation. In this study, the two-dimensional synthetic imaging method was expanded, and a preliminary exploration on a new method of three dimensional synthetic focused imaging was carried out in order to obtain three dimensional ultrasonic Imaging with defects directly. This new method was implemented by programming on the Matlab platform. The verification was carried out by processing the complete set of data collected by the ultrasonic phased array matrix probe. After the three dimensional synthetic focusing treatment, the three-dimensional data of the ultrasonic imaging in the space under the probe was obtained, then the three-dimensional image of the side-drilled holes was segmented using iso-surface method. The results showed that the defect's three-dimensional image can be obtained without the mechanical moving scanning of the ultrasonic probe, and the image can clearly reflect the true position and spatial distribution of the reflector. This method had a certain theoretical significance and practical value to obtain the three-dimensional image of the defects in the detection position where the moving of the ultrasonic probe was confined.
