Abstract
Under the swing motion of the ship,dynamic model of the journal bearing-gear system is established. The nonlinearity of the oil-film force and tooth force on drive-side and back-side are considered simultaneously. The equilibrium positions under different input rotation speeds and torques are calculated. Swing-induced system responses are simulated. The influence of the gear box position respect with swing center is examined by presenting displacement response,tooth force and bearing force. The results show that amplitudes of gear vibration and journal bearing force are remarkably enlarged with the increasing of the radius of the ship swing motion,the direction of the oil-film force varies greatly. Under a small backlash,tooth wedging phenomenon is observed and it may happen in a single direction respect with rotation center of the ship body. From the perspective of the safety for the gear and the bearing, this study provides reference for the design of the gear box position.
