Abstract

A reconfigurable intelligent surface has great significance in “green communication” with low power consumption and high energy-efficient communication, it has become a key technology for the next generation of communication. The loss distortion caused by hardware impairments affects the performance of the communication system. In this paper, we aim to maximize the weighted sum rate of all the users by considering hardware impairments in the reconfigurable intelligent surface-assisted multiple-input multiple-output system. Because of the multivariate coupling effect of the optimization problem, we adopt the block coordinate descent algorithm. This method helps decouple the original problem into two subproblems where the transmitting precoding matrix and phase shifts are alternately optimized. The simulation results demonstrate the necessity of considering hardware impairments in beamforming optimization and the effectiveness of introducing a reconfigurable intelligent surface into a multiple-input multiple-output system.
