Abstract

For the high chroma of biologically pretreated cellulosic ethanol wastewater, the decolorization of electrochemical oxidation of biologically pretreated cellulosic ethanol wastewater was investigated. The electrochemical degradation of standard humic acid was also studied, and their degradation rates were compared with humic acid elimination rates.Three-dimensional fluorescence spectrum was used to characterize the electrochemical degradation of organic compounds during electrochemical oxidation process. Results show that the decolorization of biologically pretreated cellulosic ethanol wastewater is positively correlated with the decrease of humic acid concentration, and there is a highly positive correlation between the electrochemical degradation of biologically pretreated cellulose ethanol wastewater and the standard humic acid solution.Similar decrease of intensity of humic acid-like peak as a function of time was observed. The degradation of chromaticity materials in this kind of wastewater can be characterized by the reduction of humic acid concentration.
