Abstract
In order to enhance the surface protection effect of vehicle mechanical parts, the NiCr/Cr2C3 coating, Ni/C coating as well as NiCr/Cr2C3 and Ni/C composite coating were prepared on the surface of 304N stainless steel with the plasma spraying method. The microstructures and morphologies of coatings were observed, the hardness and wear resistance were tested, and the friction and wear mechanism was analyzed. The results show that the NiCr/Cr2C3 and Ni/C composite coating has the best wear resistance in three coatings. The metal binding phase NiCr can supply enough support effect for preventing the lift off of coating and the appearance of adhesive wear. As a solid lubricant, Ni/C can decrease the overall friction coefficient of coatings through the self-lubrication action.
